4-Week Stained Glass Classes

Spencer Shumway, a local artist, has been doing stained glass for over 45 years and has completed over 200 pieces.  He will instruct students on all aspects of creating stained glass projects including Tiffany style glass construction and windows that use a lead cane method. Classes would take you through glass scoring, cutting, and prepping to be assembled as well as soldering techniques.

Classes 2 hrs, 4 classes total

Dates:  Mondays, 1:00-3:00pm, May 12, May 19, Jun 2, Jun 9

Cost:  $25 per class*; total of $100 payable at registration

* Individuals will be responsible for purchasing tools/materials and supplies in advance of course using a supply list and suggested vendors provided by the instructor.  Initial supply costs estimated $100.

 

Class 1

Easy Project – Star Suncatcher or Bumblebee approx. 10-15 pieces.

Learn to cut glass, apply foil edges (Tiffany style) and soldering.

Some antique glass supplied.

Class 2

Tiffany style project – 20-30 pieces; learn framing

Class 3

New small project – flower, animal, bird, scenery

Learn Lead Cane method

Class 4

Your choice of project and method!
